We thank you with all our heart dear people in Germany from www.windhunde-sind-jagdhunde.de

They have sent us lots of warm overcoats for our doggies to wear during the cold winter days and nights.  The overcoats, in all colors of the rainbow, are made from fleece blankets by volunteers who have become experts in overcoats making.

In the first picture, Inge's Chester is posing in a blue jacket. Cool!

April 3rd 2008

And our friend Karin, Lina's and Laura's mum, sent for our pups warm blankets, a pile of dry pork ears which vanished in minutes :-)) cookies for us and two framed pictures of her three Ls.  Lina, Laura and Laika.  Thank you Karin and Klaus!

Tanja, giant Kalle's mum who had come to the shelter as a tiny pup, sent for the doggies all kinds of goodies.  Collars and leashes, toys, treats, treats and treats :-)) Thank you Tanja!

Simone, a great rescuer, has sent medical supplies for the needs of the shelter and for our little ones the inevitable treats.  Thank you Simone!

Auntie Olga and Nicos sent Christmas presents for our babies.  Food, treats and a pile of chewing toys. Thank you! 14.12.07

It takes a big heart to do what little Lina's mom did.  Lina, a sweet little thing from Sparta, has crossed the rainbow bridge and her mom sent us her darling's precious belongings.  Toys, blankets and a number of tiny overcoats for the cold winter nights.  Our very small babies will have the honor to wear Lina's overcoats. We thank you!  16.10.07

KAZ's friend Nicole, came with her friend to Greece to attend the wedding of a cousin and visited us at the shelter. We were very happy to meet them, but the happiest of all were our pups.  Nicole and Frank brought for the little ones toys, collars and leashes, soft warm blankets and, brace yourself, 4 huge bags filled with dry smoked pork ears.  Thank you people for not forgeting our pups. 16.10.07

Sabine and Adrian Thal from Germany, old friends of the shelter, have sent for the little ones 2 large crates with goodies.  In the larger crate there were 3 large bags with smoked ears (our doggies are able to start Trojan War 2 for these smelly treats) blankets, towels and toys.  We thank you from our heart and all doggies send you wet kisses. 10.08.07

These child hands hold the precious life they have saved.  The young sparrow, small and frail, started too early the great adventure of life.  He landed on Maraike's balcony and that explains everything. He might have had small wings, but he had a strong voice. His mother heard him and she kept coming every day to feed him. Until the day came when the little sparrow opened his wings and flew to his new life, this time for good. May the wind be always gentle for you, Maraike's little sparrow.

This is how the day started. Three huge boxes have been carried from the first floor of the Kifissia Post Office down, they have been loaded to the little Fiat and have been transported to the shelter. Our friend Nadja has sent again presents for the little ones at the shelter.

They were 30 beds and a pile of blankets for the dogs at the shelter. One month earlier, Nadja had sent another 20 beds. Thank you Nadja for not forgeting the little ones.

She is old, she is ill, she has lost all her coat and her old body is covered with wounds. She was brought to us with the request to have her sleep. But she enjoys her food, she loves to be petted and she sleeps like a baby. We decided to start a mild therapy and give her what she never had. People caring for her. The old dog lady wishes for a sponsor to help the shelter keep her. She will never return to the streets, she lives now under the shelter's wing. 31.3.07

George was found in Marcopoulo town, dragging his old bones along the main road. His body was covered with wounds and he was hungry. Who says that old dogs must be put down? At the shelter he has plenty of food, his own bed with a warm blanket and his skinproblems are gradually in the process of healing. George needs your help. He would like to have a sponsor, who will share with the shelter the expenses of him living there. 31.3.07

Following a phone call from the 5th grade teacher of the 2nd Primary School in Peania, a visit was arranged where we met the head master and the childrens' teacher. The children had collected money and bought 6 twenty kilo bags of dry food for the animals at the shelter.

"Teacher" does not mean only to teach the set material. The teacher is the person who will inspire the child, who will teach it values, respect of every kind of life, the person who will enlighten. The 5th grade children already knew that animals feel pain, fear, hunger, joy and play as humans do. The difference with humans is that animals give their love unconditionally.

The little Fiat, in the photograf, is groaning under the weight it has to carry, the result of these pupils love for the strays at KAZ. Our heartfelt thanks to the children, their families and especially their teacher. You teachers, wherever you are, instill in the childrens' hearts, respect for animals. You have before you excellent material to mould into good and responsible adults.

And Anna Maria has taken care of the New Year meal of our babies.  240 large cans of food.  The little ones send you, Anna Maria, hundreds of sweet kisses.

Once he found the way to the shelter, Santa keeps coming.  Jennie visited us again and brought more presents. Two big, soft beds, three plastic ones and blankets. Thank you Jennie, Inge and Nadja. The four legged crowd welcomed the presents enthousiastically. 14.12.06

On the little table a pile of collars and leashes, 45 of them, Christmas presents from Inge, Kyra's mom. 14.12.06

The foster family of Orpheus sent for him a warm blanket for the cold winter nights. Miltos and Marikaki are just performing a quality assurance test. 14.12.0

Santa keeps coming to the shelter and this time from England. Renna's family sent to our babies puppy-cookies, toys, toys and toys!  Aphrodite keeps watch and prepares herself psychologically.  Renna is a sweet girl-dog that stayed at the shelter for a week, before joining her family. 12.12.06

Santa Claus came again to the shelter! Frida's mom sent for the little ones who didn't have her beloved Frida's luck, 45 warm blankets and  little nests for the wee ones. Alkyoni's mom sent vitamines, treats, dog chocolates and Euridike's mom sent homaeopathic medicins for Mocca's leg. We thank all these families for not forgeting the poor souls who live in the shelter.

Santa arrived early to the shelter this year. On November 24 visited us  the shelter's good angel Jenni Klomberg with Thomas. She brought all kinds of presents for our boys and girls. Blankets, vitamines, collars, toys and piles of delicious treats.

Jenni and the wild beasts.

Fundraiser and animal welfare activist Willie Nugent visited our shelter on November 18 as part of his "Shaking Paws" tour and donated 1.500 Euro to the shelter. Our warmest thanks dear Willie.

On March 11 bad luck hit the shelter. Gail destroyed the roof of the animals' building. At least half of the little ones had to spend the nights, until it was restored, under the stars.

Fortunately no one was injured, except from the Organisation's finances. But Murphy's law had been set in motion.

On April 8 the next accident left us speachless and brok.  The damage of the well's pump. Warm weather made everything worse. The animals needed drinking water and we needed water to keep their pens clean.

Thank God there is bottled water for the animals. For cleaning we had to carry water from our homes. In those days we had in the shelter a large number of pups, and because of their age extremely productive!!!

With the financial help of "Marchig Animal Welfare Trust", Scottland, the exercise inclosures are installed. The animals can play and exercise as long as they wish.

The doors of the animals' pens open early in the morning and close in the evening for the night sleep. They enjoy their freedom and they are grateful for all those hours out doors.
